It’s time for some more vaccine history, Trackers! Did you know that chicken pox came to America in the 15th century when the European explorers landed here. That was 600 years ago! But in the last 30 years the cases of chickenpox have decreased 97% among children. Can you guess what caused this pawsome development? You guessed it, Vaccines!
The chicken pox vaccine was first approved in Japan and Korea in 1988, but in 1995 it was finally approved in the United States. Kids are recommended to take the vaccine in two doses: one at 12-15 months and another at 4-6 years.
