About Us

Mission

The mission of ImmunizeVA is to protect the health and well-being of all Virginians by achieving and maintaining full immunization protection through education, advocacy, statewide collaboration, and the promotion of equity.

Who We Are

ImmunizeVA is a statewide coalition of immunization stakeholders representing medical, public health, and nonprofit professionals, as well as parents and community members. Members are united in their commitment to the coalition’s vision of a future where the quality and length of life of Virginian’s are not impacted by a disease that could have been prevented by immunizations. We work together to improve immunization coverage across the Commonwealth.

Our goals include:

  1. Disseminate science-based immunization information, expertise, and resources to providers, parents, and the public.

  2. Provide educational opportunities for healthcare professionals and community stakeholders.

  3. Raise immunization levels to align with national goals by ensuring equitable and accessible immunizations are available statewide.

  4. Advocate for policies based on science and use of sensible disease prevention approaches.

  5. Improve immunization data collection, management, and access across the state.

  6. Foster strategic public and private partnerships to facilitate collaboration across the Commonwealth.

History

ImmunizeVA was founded in 2020, building off of the legacy of Project Immunize Virginia (PIV), an immunization coalition that was active in Virginia from 1995 – 2012. PIV played an instrumental role in developing public awareness campaigns, developing educational resources for parents, providing office-based education to immunization providers, and promoting the Virginia Vaccines for Children (VVFC) and Immunization Registry.
